A generation spoke. A publisher folded. Now what?

We’re calling for publishers to step up, listen, and act, because queer stories in mid-life matter. Over 100 people from across the LGBTQ+ community came forward to speak truthfully and bravely about their lives for Still Here! Still Queer! Now What? — a groundbreaking book by Dr. Paul Taylor-Pitt. They weren’t celebrities or influencers. They were real people, aged 40 to 60, often unheard, often invisible, who said yes when invited to share.

There was an urgency in telling their stories, often because no one had ever asked them before. Their stories were raw, joyful, defiant, heartbreaking, and hilarious. They were woven into a tapestry of queer mid-life resilience, love, loss, rage, and rebirth. And then… the publisher went under. The book was shelved before it could even see the light of day. Their voices were silenced.

But we refuse to let that be the end of the story. This petition is a rally cry. We don’t want sympathy or pity. We want power and action. This isn’t about saving a single book, it’s keeping alive the flame that was lit to start a movement.

We demand that this vital work finds a new home. We need a publisher brave enough to champion a book that dares to tell the truth about queer life in mid-age, because queer people don’t stop existing at 30. This book proves that our stories don’t get less powerful with age, they get bolder.
